About Routes

Routes is a youth engagement programme for 15-19 year olds in Midlothian funded by Midlothian Council and delivered through MTS/PAVE. The programme provides non-formal learning for the senior phase of aCfE to vulnerable young people. Routes aim is to work in a flexible partnership with referring agencies to provide a wider choice of options to enable this group to progress into positive destinations.The programme offers a range of activities for young people at stage 1(engagement) and 2(barrier removal) of the skills pipeline. Senior phase pupils in Midlothian secondary schools or receiving outreach teaching may also be referred as part of a flexible curriculum programme or to aid transition and progression. The activities focus on developing core skills of literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing and skills for learning, life and work through active learning in practical, engaging and relevant contexts. The programme also provides personalised support to individuals in developing their social, emotional and behavioural skills.
